About Alterra

If you have a project, I will document it the way it deserves to be seen.

Alterra was founded by Hugo Lezama — a first-generation Mexican-American civil engineer from Colorado State University and the first in his family to earn a college degree. The son of working-class immigrants who built their lives through hard work and sacrifice.

With years of field experience as a Project Engineer on heavy civil and design-build projects across 14 states, Hugo understands construction from the ground up. We are your boots on the ground — and in the air.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you need permits to fly on a construction site in LA?+
Yes — commercial drone operations require FAA Part 107 certification, and flying in controlled airspace (like near LAX) requires LAANC authorization. We handle all of this before every flight. You don't have to do any paperwork.
How fast do we receive the photos and video?+
Standard delivery is 48 hours after every flight. Files are delivered via a shared Google Drive link — organized, labeled, and ready to use immediately. Rush 24-hour delivery is available on request.
Can you fly on an active job site without stopping work?+
Yes. We are OSHA 10 and MSHA certified, and we coordinate directly with your site superintendent before arrival. Flights are planned to avoid crane operations and active work zones so your crew never has to stop.
Do your aerial photos meet MLS standards for real estate listings?+
Yes. Our photos are delivered as high-resolution JPGs with proper framing and aspect ratios for MLS, Zillow, Redfin, and all major listing platforms.
What if the weather is bad on the day of the flight?+
No cancellation fees for weather or site delays. We reschedule at no charge. We monitor weather forecasts and will proactively reach out if conditions are unfavorable.
Can you operate in restricted airspace like near LAX or SoFi Stadium?+
We can operate in most controlled airspace with LAANC authorization, which we obtain before every flight. The exception is active TFRs (Temporary Flight Restrictions) around events like NFL games at SoFi — we cannot fly within those boundaries during the restriction window.
What is included in the free first flight?+
The first flight includes a full photo set of your site, organized and delivered within 48 hours — exactly what every paying client receives. No strings, no watermarks, no obligation. We just want you to see the quality before committing.
Do you provide recurring flights?+
Yes. We can automate recurring schedules for weekly or monthly progress tracking.
